Special Meetings

As Needed

Notice is posted online and at the meeting location at least 24 hours in advance with the meeting purpose listed. If you would like to receive email notices of special meetings please subscribe here.

Executive & Closed Sessions

Sometimes the Board meets in an executive session or a closed session, as state law allows per RCW 42.30.110 or RCW 42.30.140. These sessions may be used to discuss legal matters, real estate negotiations, or certain personnel issues. Before going into executive session, the Board announces the reason for the session and when the meeting will return to open session. No final decisions are made during executive session.

More Information About Meetings

The public may speak during Board meetings.

There are two times for public comment:

  • Agenda Items – Comments about something listed on the meeting agenda.

  • Other County Items – Comments about general County business.

Each person has three minutes to speak. You may not give your time to someone else.

If you attend in person, please sign in before the meeting. When called, state your name and the city where you live, then speak clearly at the podium.

If you attend remotely, turn on your camera and microphone if possible. Provide your name and city, raise your virtual hand and wait to be recognized by the Chair before speaking.

You may also submit written comments before or at the start of the meeting. Include your name and city. The Clerk may read your comment into the record.

Meetings may not be used to support or oppose political candidates.

In addition to the Board of County Commissioners, the County Commissioners serve on and appoint members to many boards and committees that support county services and community needs.
